Qchef.com, a specialty food Internet distributor, was launched in December 2001 by Emerance Brands, a broker, importer and manufacturer based in Wharton, N.J. Bottone acquired Qchef.com from Emerance Brands in October 2003. At the time of the acquisition, Qchef.com had roughly 100 retail customers and represented 800 SKUs.
Bottone has terminated his lease on warehouse space here. The space was subleased by Emerance Brands. Bottone, a former executive chef and food writer, is creating a line of rum cocktail-inspired rum cakes, preserves and piquante sauces for Gosling's Black Seal Rum for introduction this summer under the Gosling's brand name.
